Christian Daichi Carlson

Christian Daichi Carlson is a PhD candidate in the English Department. Before joining the UVA community, he received a B.A. in English with a Concentration in Creative Writing: Poetry from Washington University in St. Louis as well as an MSt in English (1900-Present) from the University of Oxford (Keble College). His research interests emerge out of a wide-eyed fascination with 20th century Anglophone modernist poetry—particularly with the interwar verse experiments of Marianne Moore, Anne Spencer, and Lorine Niedecker—placed in dialogue with the contemporarily pressing, interconnected discourses of posthumanism, ecocriticism, and trauma.
