Marissa Abruzzini

Marissa Abruzzini is a fiction student pursuing an MFA in creative writing at UVA. Before coming to UVA, she earned a BA in journalism from Western Washington University and worked as a fine wine journalist for nearly a decade. Her fiction takes inspiration from Calabrian storytelling tradition, which emphasizes braided perspectives and nonlinear narratives. Marissa is drawn to Kafkaesque metamorphoses, exorcisms, and the uncanny. She’s currently working on a novel about tarantism.
