Sara Levy
Sara Levy is a writer from Lisbon, Portugal. She ditched an ambivalent relationship with Engineering for a tumultuous love affair with Fiction. One of the offspring of this entanglement, the children’s book Arvizinhos, flew the nest in 2020. Two of her short stories went on to win the Luís Vilaça Literary Prize in 2021. She has published in the literary magazines The Avenue and Limoeiro Real. She is currently an MFA student at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville. But her affective fingerprints can be found on both sides of the Atlantic – on bikes lost in the Netherlands, on empty glasses of rakomelo in Athens, on balconies overlooking the Lisbon skyline, on modernist elevators in Barcelona, and on cups of coffee in a Parisian neighborhood she is dying to write about. What truly torments her is having to write about herself in the third person—and not being allowed to make anything up.
